Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a reminder that progress is not passive; it is something we are called to actively participate in. Dr. King’s words challenge us to not only reflect on the past but to have the courage to enact change in the present. This year’s MLK Day programming invited our community to do just that.

Reflecting back on 2025, these are some of the classic boarding school moments that captured and defined our year in the mountains of Bethel, Maine.

This winter, Gould has expanded our ski touring tradition with a significant upgrade to the Gear Room. The school has added twelve full touring ski setups, including Blizzard skis, Tecnica boots, ATK bindings, Contour skins, and touring poles, along with two Voilé Spartan splitboard setups for snowboarders

Each year, the Fly Fishing Club, supported by Gould’s Outing Club, organizes an overnight trip to Upper Dam to fish for native brook trout and landlocked salmon. The Outing Club and its fully stocked gear room support a variety of outdoor adventures throughout the year. Like surfing on the coast, whitewater rafting in The Forks, and backcountry skiing at Tuckerman Ravine, the fly fishing trip has quickly become one of Gould’s most anticipated traditions.

Fall Awards brought the community together to celebrate a full season of commitment and growth. Coaches recognized the work of their athletes across Cross Country Running, Competitive Gravity Mountain Biking, Enduro Mountain Biking, Cross Country Mountain Biking, Golf, Boys and Girls Soccer, Field Hockey, Equestrian, and programs like Outing Club and Drama & Theater. Above all, the night reflected a season shaped by teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and the strength of the Husky spirit. See below for a full list of the night's award winners.

Gould takes Halloween seriously, and our community received an extra treat this year when we gathered for our morning Halloween assembly! Before Dr. Clarke and the weekend team announced campus Trick-or-Treat plans, the Saturday night masquerade dance, and which horror movie would be shown at the yurt, Fernando ’26 and Mau ’27 offered a presentation on the history and significance of Dia de los Muertos.
