Developing Resilient, Thoughtful, and Well-Rounded Individuals

Students learn to think deeply, write clearly, and listen with empathy—skills that prepare them for college and life.

The English Department at Gould centers on the transformative power of stories and language. Students become skilled readers, persuasive writers, and confident communicators, able to express ideas with clarity and purpose. Through rich discussions around Harkness tables and public presentations, students deepen their insight and empathy. Honors and AP classes challenge students to explore literature more deeply and build a strong capacity for critical thinking. Gould's supportive environment ensures each student develops a distinct and compelling voice.
