Bethel, Maine

Gould Academy is proud to announce the promotion of Dustin Holzweiss ’02 to Snowboard Program Director. A seasoned coach, accomplished professional, and proud Gould alumnus, Holzweiss brings nearly two decades of experience, vision, and deep-rooted passion to his new leadership role.

Holzweiss has been a foundational member of Gould’s snowboarding staff since 2005, guiding generations of riders through FIS Slopestyle, Snowboard Cross, and competition programs. Most recently, he served as Head FIS Slopestyle Coach, where he played a key role in mentoring athletes who would go on to compete with the U.S. Snowboard Team. His coaching career reflects a powerful blend of technical expertise, athlete-centered development, and an unmistakable love for the sport.

“It is truly an honor to become the snowboard director of Gould Academy, snowboarding has been a part of who I am since I fell in love with it as a child. Being an alum of Gould Academy, both Gould and snowboarding have helped mold me into the person I am today.”

In addition to his coaching accolades, Holzweiss holds a Level 300 Snowboard Coach certification from U.S. Ski & Snowboard and a Level 100 certification from the International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association (IFSA). He’s also served as a private chef for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Mogul Team, managing athlete nutrition at international training camps.

For Holzweiss, the snowboard program at Gould is more than a pathway to elite performance — it’s a community built on passion, expression, and personal growth.

“Snowboarding is about more than just going down a mountain. It’s about passion, expression, friendship, determination, and so many other things,” he said. “Being able to share my love for snowboarding and inspire young adults with that same passion and drive is very exciting. Knowing the potential of what Gould and the snowboard team can provide for young adult athletes, I am very excited to be a part of this program and pass on all of my love and knowledge of this sport that has given me so much over the years.”

As Director, Holzweiss will lead the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of Gould’s premier Snowboard Program, including athlete development, competition readiness, and integration with the school’s academic and community values. His deep ties to Sunday River, professional discipline, and mentorship mindset will help drive the program into its next chapter.

“We are thrilled to have Dustin step into this role,” said Mark Godomsky, Dean of Athletics. “He exemplifies what it means to be Gould-made — passionate, grounded, and driven to help others succeed. Our snowboard athletes are in exceptional hands.”
