Gould Academy Presents its Winter Sports Awards for 2025-26

The Winter Sports Awards are displayed on a table ahead of the ceremony

The winter season is a big part of Gould’s identity. Our location in the Western Mountains of Maine, six miles from Sunday River Resort, makes that possible. That’s not limited to the competitive Alpine, Nordic, Snowboard, Freestyle, Freeride, and Freeski programs. Over ninety percent of Gould students engage with the outdoors during the winter season, from working towards becoming jacketed patrollers in the Ski Patrol Program, giving local elementary school students their first exposure to the mountain as ski instructors, to exploring the whole mountain from parks to glades in All Mountain Skiing and Snowboarding.

Early mornings running gates in the race venue at Sunday River, building jib parks on campus for extra practice, perfecting tricks, and pushing themselves uphill over countless kilometers on Pine Hill: the hard work shows up over the course of the season on podiums across New England and the world. It’s part of who we are, and we recently celebrated that commitment with our Winter Sports Awards in Bingham Auditorium.

Dean of Academics Ben Kamilewicz opened the evening to introduce coaches as they celebrate their athletes.

“Tonight, we’ll hear about many great achievements and accolades,” said Ben. “Our students have been successful in so many ways and at so many levels—from local races to the world’s stage, and they do so with the kindness and courage only true champions can show. I thank all the coaches who have given so much of their time and heart to their sports.”
