On Saturday morning, 18 members of the Gould community traveled to Lewiston to participate in the annual Dempsey Challenge, supporting the Dempsey Center and its work providing no-cost services to individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Our students and adults took part in the run/walk, with each participant having the opportunity to dedicate their effort to someone affected by cancer. It was a wonderful morning of community, service, and celebration—and a meaningful way for Gould to support an organization whose services have touched the lives of people in our school and local communities.

Along the way, our group also had the chance to meet Patrick Dempsey and several special guests, including NBA legend Reggie Miller, Gould alumnus and former U.S. Ski Team athlete Troy Murphy ’10 (a.k.a. Donnie Pelletier), and Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline.

This year’s Dempsey Challenge raised more than $2 million for the Dempsey Center, a remarkable demonstration of what a community can accomplish when it comes together in support of others. Thank you to everyone who participated and to all who supported the Gould team through donations. We are still tallying our final total and look forward to sharing it soon!
