Richard Foyston is Chairman of Navis Capital Partners and one of the firm’s three founders. Established in 1998, Navis manages approximately $3.5B in private and public equity funds with a focus on Southeast Asia. With offices in six countries across the region, Navis is one of the region’s largest private equity firms and follows an approach of control investments in which the Firm.

Mr. Foyston is responsible for a variety of Firm-wide leadership roles and is a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Foyston is also closely involved with a subset of Navis’ funds designed to be compliant with Islamic investment principles – ethical and financial criteria excluding investments in businesses considered harmful, excessively risky or unethical.

Prior to co-founding Navis, Mr. Foyston was a Partner with The Boston Consulting Group where he worked in the firm’s Boston, Tokyo and Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur offices and for 10 years was responsible for building and leading BCG’s Asia (ex Japan) practice.

Outside his Navis activities, Mr. Foyston participates as a board member and Senior Advisor to several firms including Strategic Turnaround Fund (U.S. listed microcaps) and Sportboleh Sdn Bhd (high performance sports training apparel). Mr. Foyston was educated in Canada and the U.S. and has been a resident in Asia since 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen’s University (Canada) and an MBA from Harvard Business
School, as well as the designation of Canadian Chartered Accountant (CA).

While still active at Navis and based in Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Foyston spends an increasing portion of his time in North America, where his four children and three grandchildren reside.
