Christine S. Teague ’66

B.A. Middlebury College
M.Ed. University of New Hampshire
Retired – School District Administrator
Concord, NH
Christine Sanborn Teague was born and raised in Maine, growing up in nearby Norway, Maine, and graduating from Gould in 1966. Her roots in the western hills of Maine stretch back many generations. Her father, Blaine Sanborn ‘45, was a Gould graduate and a Gould trustee for 13 years.

After leaving Middlebury College in 1970, she headed to Boston and then to Washington, D.C., where she worked for Senator Edmund Muskie on the Hill until 1973. During that time, she also met and married her husband, John. They returned to northern New England and raised four sons. Although living in Concord, New Hampshire, she spent many summers in western Maine at a camp built by her great grandfather in the early 20th century.
Her community involvement has included being a founding member of the Feminist Health Center in Concord, New Hampshire, and serving and chairing the Concord School Board. In addition, she served on the boards of Woodside School in Concord, a United Way day care center in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, and Opportunity House, a halfway home for New Hampshire State Hospital residents transitioning to community living.

After receiving her master’s in education from the University of New Hampshire, she began her professional life as a public school teacher and K-12 school administrator, retiring in 2013. Her focus during her life as an educator was literacy curriculum and instruction. She worked with students who needed additional support and specially designed instruction. She also led teacher training and change efforts in rural New Hampshire.

Currently, she is co-owner of Pequawket Partners, a real estate development company in Portland, Maine. In addition to her trustee and business duties, she travels far and wide—from Massachusetts to Idaho and California—to see her grandchildren and their families!
