Bouchard ’23 Named to Team Ireland for the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival
Ethan Bouchard ’23 is currently competing in the 2023 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. With Irish citizenship, Ethan is competing in alpine events for Team Ireland from January 21-28.
“This will allow me to see where I stack up on a world scale. Beyond that, it'll give me opportunities in college, and it gives me more exposure,” says Ethan. “It's a great opportunity to train against some of the best kids in the world and prepares me for representing Ireland at future events like World Juniors, or maybe in the Olympics, who knows.”

As Gould's Athletic Director, I, and the community here at Gould, feel a deep pride when one of our athletes takes a step-level jump in their sport. We know the countless hours our athletes spend training, competing, and recovering—all while supporting their teammates and maximizing their academic journey. Greatness in sport is not achieved easily, which is why it is a pleasure to congratulate Ethan Bouchard ’23 on being named to Team Ireland for the 2023 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, from January 21-28.
An outstanding athlete and scholar, Ethan's accomplishments epitomize the journey we want every Alpine Racer to experience at Gould—high-level athletics and academics, plus so much more.
In the fall, I always enjoyed seeing him out for his morning run to refresh and prepare himself for the day. His dedication to getting better every day both athletically and academically, all while having fun, speaks to the essential core values of Gould. This dedication has paid dividends for him—both by being named to Team Ireland and getting into Boston College through early decision.
Yet, I am always impressed by Ethan's warm smile and best wishes as you pass him on the walkways of Gould. For me, it is a reminder of how a simple gesture can positively change someone's day. I am also impressed by his ability to "rally the troops," as his Junior 4-PT leader once commented. These many facets of Ethan make him more than just a great athlete but a leader in our community.
On behalf of our faculty, staff, and coaches, we wish Ethan the best of success in his races at the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival and hope the "luck of the Irish" will help him bring home some hardware–all while having the experience of a lifetime.
