A Senior Sunrise at Sunday River

This week, our partners at Sunday River helped Gould seniors create a memory that will last a lifetime. The seniors arrived at the resort in the dark and were swiftly transported to the top of North Peak in the Chondola, where they witnessed a vibrant sunrise over the colorful mountains of Maine.
“Senior Sunrise is a symbol of our last year together,” says Gould student leader Amelia Wyse ’24. ”It brought the class together off-campus, which was nice because so much of our time together is spent in classes and athletics. We shared a perfect moment and didn’t have to worry about anything other than spending time together.”

To make this experience happen, Amelia approached Director of Experiential Learning Chris Hayward, a few weeks ago with the idea. Chris reached out to our friends at Sunday River, who happily turned the lift on in plenty of time to watch the sun come up in the chilly mountain air. Hayward supplied a critical piece—the Dunkin’ Donuts—while students bundled up in blankets and huddled close together, soaking in the sun and the whole experience. Students returned to campus just in time for the Halloween costume assembly!

Gould is so grateful for our remarkable partners at Sunday River, who provided a fantastic experience for our students and the extraordinary landscape in the mountains of Maine that we call home.
