COVID updates

Dear Gould Students, Parents and Employees:

I hope you are all enjoying your summers!  Even with students on vacation, Gould has been a busy place with teachers getting ready for the upcoming school year.  In the Health Center, I have been keeping track of the latest COVID  guidance from the Maine CDC, and I am excited to share our plan to start the fall term.  Although we will continue to need to be aware of COVID’s presence in our community, I am hoping that these guidelines will keep Gould safe  and minimize disruptions to all of the wonderful things planned for the school year.

Here is a link to our updated COVID website with updated guidelines, but a summary of the biggest guideline changes can be found below.

Return to Campus
  • All students and employees should return to campus with documentation of TWO negative COVID tests taken 24 hours apart.  The first test should be taken the day before arriving on campus, and the second test should be taken the morning of arrival.
  • Home tests are acceptable. Please provide a photo with the individual's name and the date/time the test was taken.
  • For students, negative test results will be verified by the Health Center.  Please bring proof of negative test results to the Health Center prior to moving into the dorm (or participating in registration).
Masking
  • Masking requirements will be based on the COVID Community Level. As of today, August 10, 2022, Oxford County is designated as “Low Transmission.”
    • Low Transmission (Green):  Indoor and outdoor masking is optional.
    • Medium Transmission (Yellow):  Indoor and outdoor masking is optional
    • High Transmission (Orange):  Indoor masking is required. Outdoor masking is optional.
  • Regardless of the level of community spread, indoor masking will continue for:
  • Masking may be required if there is a noted increase in cases or outbreak of COVID in the Gould community.
Testing
  • Testing will be available in the health center for individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID.
  • It is essential that all Gould students and employees access the free COVID tests that are available from the US Government. The tests will be sent to your home and can be used for any reason (including for intake testing).
Thank you, and I’ll see you all in a few short weeks.  Enjoy the rest of your summer!
