Snowboarders qualify for world championship race

Congratulations to Hanna Percy ’25, Olivia Stracuzzi ’25, Brianna Schnorrbusch ’24, Nathan Pare ’23, and Tyler Hamel ’22 on qualifying for the Junior World Championship for snowboard cross in Gudauri, Georgia. Both Bri and Nate qualified but won't be competing at the event. Here’s what Coach Anna Yoshie Yamada had to say about the two current Gould athletes who are competing:

“Hanna has had an incredible season. She started the season competing in the Youth Olympic Games with Team USA, finishing 14th in the individual race and fifth in the mixed team event. Hanna went on to chase the North American Cup series, consistently finishing in the top five, and capped her NorAm series tour with a Gold medal at the last stop in Mont-Sainte-Anne in Quebec, Canada. Hanna is well deserving of this invite to the FIS Junior World Championships in Gudauri, Georgia. We couldn’t be more excited to see you perform on yet another world stage!

Olivia is a new addition to the Gould snowboard team but is familiar with high-level snowboarding. Olivia was invited to Project Gold in 2023, where the top junior snowboard cross prospects in the country train together, hosted by the U.S. Snowboard Team. Olivia went on to the North American Cup series with numerous top-15 finishes. Olivia was on the podium three times for Junior FIS races, and the combination earned her an invite to the 2024 Junior World Championships in Gudauri, Georgia. We can’t wait to see you compete and represent your country at the Junior World Championships!”

Hanna, Olivia, and Tyler’s events will take place on April 4-7. Let’s go, Gould! 🏂
